Feeding schedule for a 11-month-old baby

Three meals, with milk alongside

Your baby now eats solid food three times a day, with healthy snacks in between. Milk has become the supplement rather than the main event.

Wind formula down towards the first birthday — from 1 year, whole cows' milk can replace it. Follow-on and toddler milks are not needed (NHS).

What changes this month

Work towards fixed eating and drinking moments: three meals and at most two snacks. Start reducing formula as solid food takes over more of the day — a stepping stone towards milk from a cup around the first birthday.

An example day

This is what a day could look like. It is an example, not a prescription: your baby tells you when they are hungry, and that shifts from day to day.

Work towards fixed eating and drinking moments: three meals and at most two snacks. Grazing all day blunts the appetite. You decide what and when, your child decides how much.

Move from bottle to an open or free-flow cup between 9 and 12 months — prolonged bottle use affects the teeth.

What about breastfeeding?

With breastfeeding you don’t count millilitres — feeding responsively is the guidance, and your baby regulates the amount. The volumes above are for formula; the number of feeds a day is still a useful reference point either way.

Working it out for your baby

The rule of thumb is 150 ml per kilo of body weight a day, spread across the feeds — capped at 200 ml per bottle. Work it out with your baby’s weight →
